Wear it Pink

by Rachel on October 25th, 2007

Tomorrow is Breast Cancer Awareness Day (at least in the UK) - so wear something pink to show your awareness! The Pink Campaign is a global one, with different countries choosing different ways to promote awareness.

In the US, the main page is on MySpace, with the slogan of Let’s Pink Together. Here, they ask you to share your story, putting them all on an Interactive Ribbon. Read the stories, grab a download, find out about the campaign and how it helps people. Ellen DeGeneres is the celebrity supporter, telling the story of her mother’s brush with the disease.

In Australia, Pink Ribbon day was last Monday. They raise money through selling pink ribbons and ask supporters to wear one on the day. This is a far more functional campaign, a site that gives a lot of information and ways you can get involved. No celebrities here, just a lot of facts.

The UK is encouraging everyone to Wear It Pink tomorrow and are selling pink merchandise to raise money. They have a cute tell a friend email, where you choose a pink avatar, and encourage you to load up your photos from last year. They encourage the team effort here - work colleagues, schools etc all getting together to wear pink and raise money.
