UCAS online

by Rachel on May 22nd, 2007

I like the online presence of UCAS, the UK university clearing organisation; there are some useful tools in the mix. First up though is this years viral game; a trolley racing game round campus. Who hasn’t borrowed supermarket trolleys and run round college? They’ve extended this though, allowing you to sign up and compete for your actual or potential college, forming leagues of students. Although I’m wondering, given the rankings if many people are just clicking on the first ones in the list. They are also giving away a Wii, a good prize given the short supply.

If you move onto their main site, You Go Further, you have interesting articles on Jobs, Money, Lifestyle, getting spotted for your talent, plus some exclusive deals for being a member. They encourage to join and meet up with people who are going to the same place that you are, if you are new to the university life or just join in the forums and share your joys and concerns with people who are in the same boat as you at uni already. You can’t register without an UCAS ID or a ac.uk email address, so it gives some privacy to students. There’s a lot of people registered with the site - you can see member names and pictures and I gave up clicking after about 100 pages. Although I can find few references to the site, it looks like a success for the students.
