On video advertising

This I quite like - something different with video advertising. DBMpulse has put together a neat flash unit that gets laid over the video on boreme.com. Click on the links in the unit and information pops up - and the video behind stops. Close the ad and the video starts up again (except for the myspace link that opens a new window).

Leveraging the entertaining video to place ads on, it’s visually more intrusive than the more traditionally placed banner ads - it’s right in the field of view. But clicking on it does not take you away from what you are watching in the first place, it does not overshadow it, letting you get back to it easily AND it gives you decent content whilst you look at the ad. I’ve been looking for a while for something better for advertising with video than pre or post roll and this goes a long way towards it. Love it.
