MTV Movie Spoof Contest

Via Viral Blog, I see that MTV are running a lovely contest. Make your Own Movie Spoof and win a trip to the MTV movie awards.
Seven people will get a trip to the awards on 1 June, plus a Flip camera, and 1 person will walk away with their own MTV Movie award. Instead of just the one place to upload your video, MTV has partnered with 7 video sites, non of them YouTube. THe broad approach is good as it means that a creator can choose the site that would suit them best, either because of the subject matter of the spoof or because they already have a following there, but they can only enter the video on one of the sites. Each of the sites involved, Break, Buzznet, Daily Motion, Funny Or Die, Heavy, MySpace or Photobucket, is actually a fully fledged partner and sponsor in the contest and each will choose one winner, based on the same judging critera, to attend the awards.
This is different - instead of distributed content we now have distributed contests ;)
The winners from each site then get added to the MTV site, where there is voting for the overall winner, the one who walks away with the Golden Bucket of Popcorn.
There’s a strict list of rules, which are an indication of how messed up copyright laws can be given the number of times it stresses that you can’t use music unless it’s one of their provided tracks or something you have created. Interestingly, I can’t see any of the examples they provide as ‘copyright’ prevents me seeing them, this despite the fact they ask for a worldwide licence! (ok, end of rant) At least they don’t grab ownership of all the original stuff you may create.
Overall, it looks a good competition - so go out and get creating.

Just a quick update to your story about the MTV Spoof to Win contest.
