Make Your Own Ad for Slusho
I’ve come across another make your own ad contest, this time for Slusho (You can’t drink just six), a Japanese soft drink that is all the rage. So if you the inclination, get your creative juices flowing and make their next 30 second commercial, for the chance of winning a new PC.
Of course, if you have been following the hype behind the new JJ Abrams movie Cloverfield, you’ll know that Slusho, and the parent company Bold Futura, are fakes, set up as part of the marketing. Not quite an ARG, but definitely an extended reality. The context looks real enough (well, the rules do anyway), so it may be worth entering just to see.
Another example would be BuyNLarge, a company and site put together to promote Wall-E, a new Pixar film out next summer. Read their Privacy Policy for a laugh - you may want to avoid visiting a store as they seem to want your soul out of the deal!
All acquired customer information becomes the property of the Buy n Large corporation and can be used (but is not limited to) any venture the Buy n Large Corporation deems beneficial to it. By visiting Buy n Large (or a Buy n Large partner) the user agrees to relinquish (if requested) any personal assets that may be deemed “usable” by the Buy n Large Corporation; this includes (but is not limited to) real estate, stock holdings, user transportation, employment income and the users “soul” (either real or imagined, regardless of spiritual or religious affiliation).
These demonstrate the time period being used to start marketing a film, with elements of campaigns being put in place 6-9 months in advance of the movie, all to get that piece of mind, a level of engagement that means you’ll go and see the film that first weekend. It’s no longer just the trailers that seed the message, the online effort is vitally important.
