Green Man Festival

The idea and management of this contest came Imperial Leisure who used “in house social media tracking technology to develop a seeding strategy and maximise the impact of the campaign.” The seeding strategy seemed to have worked, as they had 125 bands entered in the first week of June and there’s about 230 now.
This seems to be an obvious tactic by a music festival and I’m surprised to have not seen it before. I’m not saying it’s not been done before, just that I’ve not seen it. It’s a great way to get festival goers to consider your event, as all the fans of the bands entered will see who’s playing and could be enticed. The bands are doing your marketing for you, even if they only have a small chance of ever playing there.
