Getting Wet
JWT yesterday held what they termed a Digitivity Deep Dive - a look for employees, clients and some press at what is going on in the online and digital worlds. The day held at the gorgeous IAC offices here in New York. Bob Jeffrey introduced the day and Barry Diller, the CEO gave a great introduction at the start of the day, challenging everyone in the room to get confused and wet with digital. He said that when he started working in the space, all he got was confused but going though that process, working through everything - asking questions - led to a better understanding. And the getting wet? To do great work in the digital world, you have to be immersed in it and not just dabble on the surface. That’s a great challenge to all the traditional agencies who are trying to work in the digital world - how are you letting and getting your employees to play online.
There was a lot of great stuff over the day, with some new information, especially on mobile. The best selling content from around the world was amazing, however it led to a fair few creatives wondering about the quality of the work. However, with the rapid turnaround and short lifespan of much of this stuff, do you really have time for 3 rounds of approval ;)
