Geico at SXSW

Last night i ended up at a party at Six again. invite for this was by special badges, handed out to ladies around the conference, suggesting they bring a man. The only clue was the badges had i heart Cavemen on them. If I’d gone to that site it would have been obvious who was holding the party, but without that clue, we were a little surprised to see the Cavemen turn up to press the flesh and pose for loads of photos. Here’s one with Pete Cashmore (he told me he’s the biggest blogger in the UK apparently) and Robert Scoble.

Now Geico has come up a few times in my quest to find memorable ads this week, but I still had to explain to my British compatriots the relevance of the icon, with the tv ads and the tv series. Geico was an unusual choice of sponsor for a party at a geek festival but if the number of cameras surrounding him last night was anything to go by, it was a success and they are going to get a lot of buzz. Live events, with freebies, can often give good press online if it all goes well! And yes, I did get my photo taken ;)
