Condom Testers Wanted
Durex are looking to activate their user-base to help with product testing and developing. They want to recruit a panel of around 5000 people to report on their experience of using the condoms, lubricants and toys, according to the BBC story. They are also offering a prize of 500GBP to applicants but given the success of the programme in France, where they had 14k applicants I don’t think they need the additional motivation.
Looking for the original press release for this story (which is not yet on the site) it was interesting to read about the other community activity that Durex supports, how it uses buzz and guerrilla marketing tactics to get the message out about safe sex around the world.
- A peer education programme in Brazil, targeting young men who distribute condom packs and information about HIV/AIDs
- A project in Columbia to educate street kids
- Working with MC Squami to create a record (called Pack It) that promotes safe sex which was then made available in select ‘underground music outlets’
Finally, they have a pretty good example of an experiential site over at Discoverplay. I really like the fact that they put together both the information part, which is simple to navigate, to link to, to get information from with the flash site that allows you to discover. A good use of the right technology at the right place.
