Bic Legends
Bic (the Razor and pen company) have a contest going on at the moment called BIC legends - looking for people who are legendary to their friends (the real life equivalent of being internet famous for 15 people). It’s to support their new razor, the Bic Comfort 3 Advance; razors, like toothbrushes and other such products, always have to have a new and improved version.
When a friend nominates you, you get the chance to tell your story and get it up on the website, where it will be voted on. The winner gets a trip to Sydney and a surfboard (that’s a trip for one person only though, which seems a little parsimonious). Some of the reasons for being a local legend include stealing a celebrity’s underwear and using them to block a leak in a car roof, charity streaking and racing a marathon with an ironing board strapped to the back.

In addition, there’s a game you can play to have some fun - Legend of Surf (Sound warning). I crashed and burned on this multiple times, but it has some great distribution tools. You can create the game in your own image, with your own avatar (i love that the eyes follow your cursor around when creating your image.). When you finish, you can get a widget to put on your own page (which I’d do, but was getting db errors, so not working for me. I’m seeing more and more of these methods to spread advergames, where you can take something and place on your own web space to spread the word.
